Paula OnyskoI am Paula Onysko– mom, life coach, consultant and writer of the blog “Sparkle and Sage”.  Having overcome many of my own health challenges, I’m a huge wellness advocate. And I’m passionate about helping women get back on track so they can live their unique sparkle!

We all know wellness – physical, emotional and mental – is important. It’s not just about looking great (although who doesn’t want that!) It’s about FEELING great too, so we have the energy and vitality to do the things we want to do in life… the things we were called on this earth to do!

Yet often, our wellness takes a backseat to family, work, household chores, errands, appointments, TV, socializing, etc.

 

THEN the vicious cycle starts.

The less we nurture our bodies, the less energy we have. The less energy we have, the less motivation we have to make healthy meals, exercise and take time to rejuvenate. The less we engage in those delicious habits, the harder our body has to work to keep up with the demands we place on it.

Until one day we wake up frustrated, irritable, angry (even disgusted) with ourselves and our body. Our clothes feel tight and we’re dragging our butts around using caffeine and sugar fixes to get us through the day!

Sound familiar? Been there? Me too.

Every organ in our body is working overtime. And they let us know. Our bodies scream out with headaches, indigestion, excess weight, fatigue, colds, flus, aches, pains, and even dis-ease.

But the worst part?

Our children are like sponges watching… and they are learning how to treat their bodies based on how we treat ours.

Just look around at the growing number of children that are overweight yet malnourished. Scary, huh?

BUT, it doesn’t have to be that way. We can decide to change in a heartbeat.  And with fresh fruit, veggies, blue sky and warm sunny days, summer time is the perfect time to kick-start a new routine!

Nourishment

Clean EatingSo much of our eating has become unconscious eating. By bringing awareness and intention to what goes in our mouth, we can feel bettershed pounds and gain hours of energy.  No, you don’t need to eat tofu and celery sticks…. we’ll just be eating cleaner and focussing on ALIVE foods.  I’ll be pulling in great information from some wonderful experts including:

Kris Carr — author of Crazy Sexy Diet – a cancer survivor who has transformed her life by transforming what she eats. Now she’s started a revolution!

Tosca Reno – author of The Eat-Clean Diet — who has taught millions her slim-down secrets without counting calories. Just clean eating. It’s easier than you think.

Naturopath Dr. Natasha Turner — author of The Hormone Diet — who guides people on hormonal health that looks at the big picture. As women, this is so important to understand how food is affecting our hormones.

H-TRIO — I’ll also be sharing a fabulous product called Body Tune-up.  I’ve teamed up with health and wellness company, H-TRIO, as an independent facilitator because I love their mission and products, which I’ll introduce you to.  Body Tune-up is a gentle 30-day cleanse that rebalances your hormones, immune system and metabolism. Exercise

Our bodies were designed to move, not sit as much as we are. And summer is the perfect time to step up the fitness. So, we’ll be focusing on finding FUN ways to become more active (and I emphasize FUN!) and learning to reframe our excuses so they don’t stand in our way.

For those that live in the Calgary area and are interested, I’ll be organizing group fitness dates to add variety to your exercise routine  (Think Yoga, Zumba, bootcamp and hiking!)

You’ll discover muscles you didn’t know you had, gain strength and be sporting a new figure!

 

Self Care

Self CareA big part of WELLNESS is re-filling the inner well. It’s the piece that many of us busy moms, entrepreneurs and corporate women miss. Yet, after suffering from adrenal fatigue last April following a busy corporate season, I can tell you that it’s not optional. We simply cannot sustain a hectic pace long-term without rejuvenation.

And so we will be building that into our week as well — adequate rest, relaxation, journaling, gratitude, meditation, and breathwork. You will feel a greater sense of peace, harmony and connectedness in your every day. Blissful…

 

 

Here’s the Format

For me, wellness and simplicity go hand in hand. So, I’m intentionally keeping the program format simple.

Each week you’ll receive an email from me guiding you on the week’s topic. The emails will include information such as:

  1. taking inventory of your current state of wellness
  2. designing a wellness vision for yourself
  3. cleaning up your pantry and fridge and weening yourself off white food
  4. adopting a new healthy eating habit each week
  5. scheduling exercise and learning to blast through excuses
  6. self care reminders and
  7. loads of inspiration.

Each day we’ll use a private Facebook group for daily accountability regarding our eating, fitness and self-care. I’m using a private group so only members in the group see our posts.

Note: The accountability piece alone is worth doing this program. After all, if you could do this on your own, wouldn’t you have by now? Chances are the things you’re giving energy to right now are things that require you to be accountable to someone – like your boss, clients or family. So let’s give you structure, accountability and make this happen.

The sooner you start a new routine, the sooner you’ll see new results.

Workshops

I’ll be offering workshops on Healthy Eating Habits, Life Balance and Building a Dream Board. You can simply gather some of your favourite friends, invite me into your home and have a great time talking and finding solutions together. Its a great way to build support within your immediate circle and to connect at a deeper level (it seems we’ve lost that a bit with all of our modern day communications gadgets).

My Heart Promise to You: For those of you that know me, you know that I put my heart and soul into everything I do. This program will be no exception. I want to see you sparkle. I want you to build your own vision of wellness and then be a success living into it.  I promise to provide you with relevant content, loving support and an open heart. I promise to share my journey of wellness openly so that you can see that I’m human, I stumble, I fall, and yet I rise again with every new dawn.

I ask that you be gentle with yourself. Wellness is a matter of the heart. As we look at why and how we care for ourselves, we tap into the core of who we are. Addressing it requires courage. But the rewards are worth it. You can accomplish a lot in 90 days — let’s take it one day at a time and enjoy the journey.

So whether it’s this program or something else, make wellness a priority. Find what works for you and build it into your everyday life. The world needs your sparkle!
